Mother Teresa of Calcutta Malta FEAA 2019-2
Mother Teresa, also known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was a Catholic nun and missionary who devoted her life to helping the poor and sick. She was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910 and became a nun at the age of 18. She later moved to India, where she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor.
Mother Teresa's work involved caring for the sick and dying in the slums of Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta), as well as establishing homes for people with leprosy, tuberculosis, and other diseases. She also founded schools, orphanages, and other charitable institutions throughout India and around the world.
Mother Teresa received many honors for her work, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2016. Despite her many accomplishments and the admiration she received from people around the world, Mother Teresa remained humble and dedicated to her mission of serving the poor. She died in 1997 at the age of 87, but her legacy continues to inspire people to work for the betterment of humanity.
